Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My menstruation is due in three days, and I am experiencing intense abdominal cramps. I recently had sex and noticed some blood. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

From your history, I presume you have a vaginal infection. Vaginal infection is transmitted during sex ( so the partner is the source), so both have to be treated at a time, or else you will get infected next time sex. You may have white or yellow, or grayish discharge with or without itching, foul smell, pain at the beginning of sex due to dryness ( as the lubrication will be reduced), and late towards the end when a fully erect penis touches the innermost vagina ( due to inflammation of the structures around the uterus) pain radiating to the back or thighs. Associated with infection, bowel movement is affected, which is also a gastritis feature. Bleeding of periods will be thicker, darker, may smell foul, and more days with spotting after the periods too. This infection will affect the cervix, which can have natural areas which can easily break through and bleed during sex when the penis touches the raw space. Bleeding will be bright red, not heavy, as the periods and will resolve in a day or two. Periods will come on the expected date, as this has nothing to do with uterine bleeding.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
