What are the complications of gastric sleeve surgery?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had gastric sleeve surgery six weeks ago and am now experiencing severe constipation, hair loss, and a strange metallic taste in my mouth. My surgeon just says, "It is normal," but does not explain why. Are these really normal side effects? What can I do to manage them? How long will they last? I am starting to regret this decision.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern.

These are common side effects, and there is no need to worry. They typically improve within one to two months. It is a good idea to get detailed blood work and hormonal tests to check for any treatable underlying causes. Try to stay relaxed and avoid stress, as anxiety and tension can sometimes contribute to or worsen these symptoms.

I hope this helps.

Please let us know if you have any further queries. We would be happy to answer.

Thank you.
