Is stem stem preservation useful in a family with no genetic conditions?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 29-year-old pregnant woman. I just wanted to know if stem cell preservation will be a useful thing to do, as I do not have enough clarity on this.

On what basis should I decide if I should say yes or no?

We do not have anyone suffering from any genetic conditions as such in our family. Your guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Regarding your questions about whether stem cell preservation is a useful thing, my answer is no, since you or any of your family members do not have any genetic disease or possible malignancy. Do not bother to keep any stem cells.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.
