Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am getting married in a couple of days, and I fear I might get my period on or around the ceremony days. Hence wanted your advice and help on what medicines to consume to delay them and when I should start them. Also, I wanted to understand if there are any side effects to taking these. I had taken such a medicine about 12 years back for a religious purpose, but I did not have any major side effects apart from more outbursts on the skin. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I thoroughly read your query and understand your concern.

Congratulations on your wedding. It is possible to delay your menstrual cycle by taking hormonal contraceptives. There are several options available, including birth control pills, a contraceptive patch, or a hormonal intrauterine device (IUD). The common side effects of hormonal contraceptives can include nausea, headache, mood changes, and changes in menstrual bleeding patterns. It is also worth noting that delaying your menstrual cycle may not be entirely effective, and there is always a chance that you may still experience some bleeding or spotting during your ceremony days. It is a good idea to have a backup plan in place, such as using menstrual products that are discreet and easy to change, just in case.

Hope this has answered your query.

Feel free to contact me for further queries.

Regards.
