Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I woke up this morning with a small yellowish pimple, approximately the size of a grain of salt, where my lower eyelid touches the eye. As such, it rubs against the eye, irritating it, even causing me to shed a few tears if I keep the eye open too long without scratching it. How long will it last? Is there any way of making it less irritating?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Different types of small lesions can occur on the eyelid margin. That may be a painful swelling like stye or infected chalazion usually away from eyelid margin. In such cases, proper treatment is needed. There may be painless growths on eyelid margins like a cyst of moll and cyst of Zeiss. These lesions are usually harmless, and treatment is indicated due to cosmetic reasons. So proper examination is needed, or you can send the main picture of the eyelid lesion (not sketch) so that I can comment appropriately. Kindly send me a clear picture of this eyelid lesion. You are most welcome for any queries.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Here is a picture, and unfortunately, I cannot get closer to the camera. On the bright side, the irritation seems to have stopped.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thanks for sharing the picture (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Nothing to worry about. These are tiny cyst formed due to blocked small glands located in the skin and eyelid margin. These resolve most of the time spontaneously and do not require any treatment. Just keep eyelids clean, and you can do warm compresses to eyelids. I hope that will help a lot. You are most welcome if you have any other questions regarding this or any other problem related to your eyes.
