Suppository

Suppositories are another method of drug administration in which a small, conical object is inserted into the bottom. After it is inserted, it dissolves and releases the drug into the body. Types include rectal, anal, and urethral. It may either treat the area of insertion or may be released into the blood and treat distant organs. Suppositories are suggested when there is profuse vomiting, prevent drug breakdown in the stomach, difficulty swallowing, or when the drug tastes terrible to be taken orally.
