Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I could feel a small node on the floor of my left tooth at the end. I think it has been there for a long time. It did not cause any trouble previously but now it is giving me trouble. It really hurts. It looks very small in size in the morning and then gradually it gets bigger during the day. It appears as if it is fixed in the bone. Last month, I took an X-ray and the doctor told me that it could be the salivary gland. It is not visible to the eyes but I can feel it with my tongue. It is too small. The doctor prescribed me the antibiotic Amoxicillin 500 mg for one week, but I can see no improvement. There is swelling on the left side of the face.

I could feel a lymph node in my left neck near the supraclavicular region. Yesterday, I did an ultrasound, and the size was about 0.39 inches. The doctor said that it was palpable. Do you think that these two nodes are related to each other somewhere? Is this because of teeth disease? Do I have mouth or throat cancer? Why is the node in my teeth not going down? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

As per the details given by you, it can be an antibioma, an infection extending to the pulp of the tooth that gives rise to an enlarged lymph node, a salivary gland stone, or a tumor. An X-ray alone will not help in diagnosis. I would recommend a biopsy and a pathological investigation. Please do so without any delay to find out the exact cause.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
