Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a red mark on my uvula that I am a little worried about. Could you possibly tell me what it could be, please? I have had the feeling of swallowing a lump for two weeks, but it seems to be going away now.

Hello,

We welcome you to icliniq family.

I appreciate the confidence you place in me for your healthcare consultation.

I understand your concern.

It seems like an inflamed lymphoid follicle. This can occur due to an infection in the vicinity or exposure to irritants such as smoke or acid reflux. Do gargles with a good antiseptic gargle like Betadine; you should feel better in a few days.

I hope this has helped you. Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Is that on the uvula? I have been prescribed medical cannabis, and I have also used a menthol filter, plus I have a dehumidifier running. Since it is winter here, I think I may have dried out too much. I have been experiencing a funny taste in my mouth on and off. I cannot sleep on my front or stomach because I wake up choking on acid. Now, I have to sleep on my left side. I also avoid eating curry, spaghetti, or orange juice within 5 hours before bedtime.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, there are small lymphoid follicles underneath the mucosa of the uvula, which can become hypertrophied in response to any infection or inflammation in the vicinity. In your case, it may have happened because of acid reflux, which is the acid from the stomach coming up in the throat while lying down.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
