Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 8 weeks pregnant and having mucus bright pink vaginal discharge for the past two days. I do not have any pain. No nausea or vomiting. Is it normal? Please help.

Answered by Dr. Sameer Kumar

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The evidence of bright pink discharge during early pregnancy is definitely abnormal and is termed as a threatened miscarriage unless proved otherwise. This calls for a visit to the emergency department to meet the gynecologist for a per speculum examination to rule out cervicitis and establish the origin of blood either from the cervix or intrauterine. If intrauterine, then an ultrasound transvaginal is mandatory to rule out any retroplacental bleed.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
