Hello doctor,
I had a slight pain when I swallowed my saliva or when I yawn for the last 10 to 12 days. I had my daughters anti-allergic syrup before going to bed. I had a good sleep, but in the middle of the night, around 3 AM, I had a irritation, and I kept coughing for around five minutes. I sipped water, and it disappeared. In the morning, while throwing saliva in the washbasin, I noticed a half drop of blood. I had an anta acid for acid reflux and my throat is very sensitive to any sharp smell and seasonal changes. Is it a matter of concern? Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
You can have an acute pharyngitis-like infective condition. A tinge of blood in the sputum can appear in pharyngitis or bronchitis cases. I suggest you get the following investigations done an auscultation examination, CBC (complete blood count), and ASO (Antistreptolysin O) titer test. I suggest taking decongestants like Levocetirizine (levocetirizine dihydrochloride) or Phenylephrine for symptom relief. Take Vitamin C 500 mg twice daily for a week, drink lots of water, avoid spicy food, and do salt water gargle with warm water thrice daily. Consult a physician for examination before taking medications. I hope I have cleared all your doubts.
Thank you.
