How to treat tics in an OCD patient?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I suffer from OCD and a few weird tics. If I try to control my tics, I start feeling uncomfortable. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. Has the OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) reduced? If not, it must be dealt with as it will reduce stress and tics. I suggest you do de-stressing techniques like deep breathing, listening to music, write down your thoughts in a journal. As the OCD is being controlled, if tics persist, I suggest you take a low-dose antipsychotic. Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
