What causes burning, tingling, numbness, and cold in thighs?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 23-year-old female. I started taking tablets Lorien and Neucon about a week ago. I am also on birth control pills. For the past three days, I have had a burning, tingling, and cold sensation (but not cold to the touch) with numbness in my upper thighs. This mainly happens at night when in bed but sometimes during the day. I have not experienced this before. What could be the problem?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for writing and I understand your concern.

This can be due to the side effects of the medications since you never had such symptoms before. So to prevent that I would suggest you take the tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg once before breakfast for five days.

Consult your specialist, talk to them, and then take the medications.Kindly tell me the dosage of the medicines that you are taking. Why are you taking medicines? What symptoms do you have?

Thank you.

Patient's Query

HI doctor,

Thank you for replying.

I have been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder and was prescribed Lorien and Neucon for that. Regarding the dosage, for Lorien, I am currently on 10 mg for two weeks and then will go onto 20 mg and Neucon is 54 mg. I am taking Yaz Plus (contains 3 mg of Drospirenone, 0.02 mg of Ethinylestradiol, and 0.451 mg of Levomefolate Calcium) once daily for birth control. I am also taking Antistax 360 mg for varicose veins and Magnesium chelate 450 mg.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Since you are taking plenty of medicines, to prevent side effects of these medications I would suggest you take tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg once before breakfast. In addition, wear a stocking for varicose veins, it will compress the veins and you will feel relief,

If still does not stop, then I suggest you take the tablet Etoricoxib 90 mg once after a meal. You can also do some light exercises such as jogging and stretching.

Consult your specialist doctor, talk with them, and then take medications as per their advice.

Thank you

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you so much for your reply.

I just have one question. Does having varicose veins increase the risk of having blood clots? Are they linked in any way?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, actually they have a link. When a person has varicose veins then there is a clot inside the vein, and it can travel to other parts of the body as well, but it happens in the rarest conditions like when the person is old or have a smoking habit.Kindly send me a picture of your leg where you have varicose veins. When were you diagnosed with varicose veins? Can you send me your reports of Doppler or ultrasound?

Please let me know so I can help you accordingly.

Thank you.
