Patient's Query

Respected doctor,

I am feeling that something is there in my left side abdomen until the left side back sometimes. It feels like heaviness or uneasiness. This problem is now from two years. There is no pain but there is a discomfort. It goes sometimes completely when I am at home but arises more when I come to my college hostel which is 600 km from home. I had four ultrasounds in between but nothing came on it. I also have dry piles (blood comes while stool) for sometimes. After that too, in the ultrasound there is nothing. Also, there is a blood test in which SGPT is 44. The doctor says it is because of very spicy foods which I take. So, I stopped from one month and my stool is fine. What is this basically? I do not have any physical problem but always thinking about this issue. The doctor says it is only gas. My gas release is not good. Also, I keep awake till 5 AM sometimes. When I think about it, it feels worse. So is it because of diet and my schedule or what? What are the suggestions?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It could be gastric irritation as you say it feels worse after eating. Since your ultrasonography is normal, and you do not have any other symptoms, it could be gastric discomfort. You could get an upper GI endoscopy done to see if all is normal. Also get Barium enema X-ray of the abdomen. However, if the heaviness is on the lower left abdomen, it could be diverticulosis as it is relieved after defecation. Please get the tests done and let me know the results. For now, no treatment as such is needed. We need to identify what is causing this.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
