Are there any diet plans for females to gain weight?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 22-year-old girl. My height is 152 centimeters, and my weight is 79.4 pounds. I am underweight and very skinny. I want to build up my body. I have a little fat on my hands and thighs, but I am very skinny in the chest area. I want to cover my bones and gain some fat over my ribcage. Please suggest a diet chart that can help me gain weight and build my body evenly. I think I may have a malnutrition problem, which is why my bones have not developed properly. Please suggest a nutritious diet or any powders that can help me gain weight and shape my body within a month.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

To gain weight healthily, you need to build muscle. I advise you to engage in regular physical activity and follow a healthy diet pattern. I do not recommend eating oily or junk food to gain weight, because that will only lead to fat gain and may cause health problems such as high cholesterol and heart disease. For a healthy diet, increase your intake of protein in the form of sprouts, nuts, egg whites, and lean meats like fish and chicken. After your workouts, drink a whey protein supplement within ten minutes of completing your session. Some good options are generic whey protein powders from reliable sources.

Start your physical exercise routine with ten minutes of cardio followed by strength training. Begin by lifting light weights. Listen to your body, and when you feel ready, gradually move on to heavier weights. You may consider hiring a qualified trainer to help you get results faster and to ensure you are doing the exercises correctly. Improper posture and incorrect breathing during workouts can cause injuries. Make sure to get eight hours of good sleep and eat your meals on time. Both are very important.

If you need a detailed diet chart, please follow up with the following details: your sleep and wake-up schedule, the regular type of food you eat (you can describe what you ate over the last three days), your working hours (if you are working), your favorite foods, the region of the country you are from, any food allergies, and your current exercise pattern (if any). These details will help me prepare a suitable diet plan for you.

Lastly, I would like to say that trying to change your body within one month is not a healthy goal. Give your body some time to change, ideally over six to twelve months. Do not punish yourself over your appearance. Everyone is born beautiful, both inside and out. Beauty truly lies in the eyes of the beholder.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.

Thank you.
