Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I took Unwanted 72 within 24 hours, and after eight days, bleeding started. Today is the fourth day, and it is continuing. How many days does it continue? Any problem in my body? Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.

How are you doing? Unwanted 72 is a high dose of Progesterone hormone, the same hormone produced in your body in the second half of the period after ovulation. This pill will suddenly increase the thickness of the inner lining of the uterus, making it unfavorable for a possible pregnancy to implant. As it is single dose, it has no strength to stand on, so it falls off, and you get your period or bleeding from the increased thickness within seven to ten days of taking the pill. This bleeding will be thick, fleshy pieces, dark red or brown, with slight lower abdominal pain till the bleeding reduces. This bleeding will be over in a day or two. It means the pill has worked, and you will not get pregnant. If you feel the bleeding is not getting relieved, have a tablet of Tranexamic acid 650 mg thrice a day for three to five days, depending on the severity of the bleeding.

If I am right, the bleeding should have reduced since the second day. Today's bleeding will be less than the first day. Just wait, and the bleeding will reduce. There will be no problem with your body.

I hope I have clarified your query. Do write back if more queries.

All the best
