Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have fever since 10 days. I also have a headache, nausea, and pain in my waist.

  1. Tested blood and WBC count high - 13750.
  2. Tested urine pus cells 8-10.
  3. Bacteria present.

I started medicine for UTI from yesterday onwards and stopped breastfeeding. Stopped breastfeeding because baby refused to take breastmilk and now milk is not coming from my breasts but there is lump which is not painful when I press it. I have stopped feeding one and a half months ago. I have also inserted copper-T IUD one month ago. Is fever happening due to lump in my breast. If yes, do I need surgery? Or medicine is fine? Or is it due to Copper-T IUD?

Please advise.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Fever may be due to upper respiratory tract infection or UTI (urinary tract infection) and also due to breast lump. Copper-T IUD (intra uterine device) do not cause this much infection. Your blood report shows leukocytosis from the attached reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) and this suggests there is an active infection. You will need ultrasound scan of breast and lower abdomen to rule out any lesion. Drink plenty of fluids to rid off urine infection with antibiotics.

I hope I have helped you.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

HI doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Is this due to mastitis? Do I need surgery or medication is fine?

Please advise.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

One of the causes is mastitis but to confirm it must be examined properly by a doctor. It can be cured with medicines if it is present.

Thanks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
