Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I recently experienced a yellow watery discharge. I am soaked if I do not use the toilet as soon as I wake up. After intercourse, there is also a big mound of yellow discharge, which is embarrassing. Neither does it have a particular odor, nor does it smell at all. Previously, when I had it, it had vanished and then reappeared. Although it is no longer irritating, the discharge persists.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As vaginal infection spreads during sex, both of you must be treated at the same time or you will both get infected the next time you have intercourse. You may have white, yellow, or grayish discharge with or without itching, a foul odor, pain at the start of sex due to dryness (as lubrication is reduced), and late towards the end when a fully erect penis touches the innermost vagina (due to inflammation of the structures surrounding the uterus), pain radiating to the back or to the thighs. Bowel movement is disrupted as a result of infection, as are symptoms of gastritis. Periods may be painful and the bleeds may be larger, darker, and may smell awful; there will also be more days with spotting after the periods. I also suggest you to get a pregnancy test done before starting the treatment.

Here are some of the medications I suggest both of you follow:

Tablet. Fluconazole (antifungal) 150 mg (only one tablet, no repetition) after lunch.

Tablet. Azithromycin (antibiotic) 1 gm only one tablet, no repetition) one hour before food.

Tablet.Secnidazole forte (Amebese) two tablets (no repetition) after dinner.

Later you have a capsule of Doxycycline (antibiotic) 100 mg twice a day for one week, vaginal wash with V-wash or similar cleanser twice a day and vaginal pessary, Capsule. Clingen forte (Clindamycin) or Candid -CL or Cansoft CL (Clindamycin) once at night for five nights.

Any antibiotic and antifungal cream can be applied topically to your partner (Candid B, Candiderma, or Lobate GM) on the penis twice a day for seven days after washing.

Avoid engaging in sexual activity until the virus has completely cleared.

Do not ignore it because delaying treatment may cause the illness to spread and harm both your and your partner's future fertility.

Thank you.
