Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 20 years old and have a regular menstrual cycle, but my period flow is not abundant and has an unpleasant odor. Recently, I discovered a foreign object in my vagina that had been lodged inside for an unknown period of time, possibly betwen two to five years. I had experienced a foul odor and discomfort during intercourse with it. The object had dark discharge and emitted a strong, unpleasant smell. What do you suggest?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed your case and understand your concerns. Based on your description, it appears that you may have an infection. I recommend starting a course of antibiotics, including

  1. Tablet Doxycycline 100 mg to be taken twice daily.
  2. Tablet Metronidazole 400 mg to be taken thrice daily.
  3. Tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg to be taken twice daily before meals.
  4. Candid vaginal pessary to be use while sleeping for seven days.

Please make sure to keep the affected area clean and dry, change your undergarments twice a day, and wash your genital area with gentle cleansers. I hope this information helps you. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reconnect.

Thank you.
