Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

There has been itchiness in my vagina for the past few months. My vagina hurts when I pee, and it also has a bad smell. Why so?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

It seems you are suffering from a sexually transmitted infection causing the smell. So, I suggest you the following instructions mentioned below.

1. Avoid using antifungal cream as recurrent use can danger the pH of the vagina and can destroy normal flora, making the vagina prone to infection easily.

2. Do a high vaginal swab test.

3. Follow strict personal hygiene.

4. Wear soft, comfortable undergarments.

5. Use condoms to avoid transmission of sexually transmitted infections.

6. Sit in warm water for relief.

7. Once the swab is collected, I suggest you take a tablet of Doxycycline (tetracycline antibiotic) 100 milligrams twice daily and a tablet of Metronidazole (antibiotic) 400 milligrams at an interval of eight hours for 14 days.

Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medicines with consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
