How to manage vestibular migraine with dizziness every day?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 35, and dizziness has become my daily reality. It is not just headaches; it is constant swaying, brain fog, and nausea. I am already taking preventive medications and was advised to consider injections like Emgality (Galcanezumab), but I am worried that it may not help with the dizziness.

Driving and using screens are difficult, work is suffering, and people think I am anxious rather than sick.

  1. How does a 35-year-old manage vestibular migraines with dizziness every day?

  2. Does vestibular rehabilitation actually help, or are medications more effective?

  3. How long does it usually take before improvement is noticed?

I am exhausted from living in this off-balance state and worried that this is how life will remain forever.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Vestibular migraine can cause much more than headaches. It can lead to daily dizziness, brain fog, nausea, and sensitivity to screens or motion. These symptoms are real and can significantly affect daily life.

A combination of medication and vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) tends to work better than either alone. Galcanezumab can help bring down both migraine activity and dizziness in some people. VRT works differently; it trains the brain to adapt, improving balance and tolerance to motion over time.

Good sleep, regular meals, proper hydration, and management of migraine triggers are also important.

Improvement is usually gradual rather than immediate. Many people need several weeks to months to notice meaningful changes, and it may take some trial and error to find the most effective treatment plan.

The encouraging news is that daily dizziness does not necessarily mean that it will remain permanent. Many patients show significant improvement with the right combination of therapies.

I hope this is clear. If you have any questions at any time, please feel free to ask.

Thank you.
