Patient's Query
Dear doctor I have some problem in my voice box according to endoscopy one small wound. I have sound problem from 2 years no pain in throat but some time I feel few bleeding from throat my sound is stop some time.
Hi!
Thanks for providing a brief history.
This looks like a vocal cord polyp. The primary treatment for this is excision of the lesion through microlaryngeal surgery or MLS done under general anaesthesia. The lesion looks non cancerous but looks can deceiving and hence make sure that this lesion once excised is sent for a biopsy and histopathological examination which is very essential for further treatment and management. Make sure that you maintain absolute voice rest following surgery for atleast 10 days. Absolutely voice rest means you should not be saying even yes or no and make sure this is very strictly followed as there is a chance of recurrence if instructions are not followed and adhered to completely. You should also be taking antireflux medications following surgery and avoid gargling as during this time maximum voice rest is recommended. There is absolutely nothing that you need to worry about as this is a very common treatable entity. I hope this answers your query. If there is anything more that you need to know or enquire, kindly do let us know and we will get back to you ASAP. Warm regards!
