Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My son is 5.5 years old, and his weight is 55 lbs. He has had diarrhea for the last four days. I had given him Enterogermina, syrup Cyclopam, and syrup Zincovit. However, his diarrhea has not subsided. He has watery stools every morning, and he cannot control it. Also, I have not given him milk since diarrhea started. Kindly prescribe him some medicines.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand the situation you are facing with your child.

Loose stools are a common problem in children. Usually, it takes time for such watery stools to subside, sometimes even up to ten days. I suggest you give him lots of fluids to drink, including freshly prepared ORS (oral rehydration solution). You can also give him tapioca pearl preparations as they help reduce the frequency of stools. Also, continue syrup Cyclopam (Dicyclomine and Paracetamol), syrup Zincovit (multivitamins), and Enterogermina (probiotic) as suggested. I suggest you consult a nearby pediatrician in case of warning signs like dullness, lethargy, decreased urine output, or seizures.

I hope this helps. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your advice.

Is it fine to give him eggs, bananas, flatbread, and milk? I am feeding him only rice, porridge, and white bread.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There is no diet restriction as such unless there is a food allergy.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
