Do weight loss medications have any adverse effects?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 32-year-old female. I am obese and have tried a lot of exercises and certain diet plans to lose weight. Nothing worked, and at last, I went in search of medication. My physician had asked me to take Contrave 9 mg twice daily. However, after taking the same for two days, I have been having a severe dry mouth and headache. I am not able to control my headache, and it is very disturbing. Should I stop the medication? Does stopping it suddenly increase my weight drastically?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
All the weight-loss medicines are harmful to our bodies. So you should not be taking them at all. You should try natural ways to lose weight, and if it fails, then we can go for medicines and all.
In your case, this medicine is causing you these side effects, so I would suggest you stop it completely. Stopping the medication will not increase your weight, so please stop it.
I suggest you do the following -
-
Control your diet.
-
Do regular exercises, including running, jogging, and going to the gym.
-
Drink plenty of fluids and consume less carbohydrates.
These things will help you a lot. I will not suggest you take any medicine for weight loss.
I hope this helps.
Take care.
