Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have crowded teeth and a wisdom tooth coming in the lower jaw and the back side, which has not grown fully. It is only on the surface, and just a little bit is beneath. Will it cause an issue, or should I wait for it to come? There are no major symptoms or issues with it, but I am starting my aligners treatment by next month, so I just wanted to confirm if there is an issue with these teeth. But there was some redness for a few days some weeks back. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I saw the image (the attachments are removed to protect patient's identities) you sent, your wisdom tooth has almost erupted, and a part of it should soon erupt completely on its own if it does not, then consult your orthodontist before starting the aligner treatment. He might advise you for an operculectomy procedure wherein the gingiva overlying the tooth is removed to help in a faster and easy eruption of the wisdom tooth.

I suggest you:

  • Maintain good oral hygiene.
  • Rinse your mouth with warm salt water three to four times a day so that there is no food lodgement below the gums of the wisdom tooth.
  • I hope you have got the answer to your query.

Take care, and you can go ahead with the orthodontic treatment.

    Kind regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
