Can a past knee injury cause foot drop symptoms?

Hello doctor,

I have a chronic onset of symptoms of foot drop, diagnosed by podiatrist last month. I would like to know if this could be caused by the original knee injury, which was diagnosed as a severe multi-ligament knee injury. Is it possible for a severe multi-ligament knee injury, with a complete tear of the ACL, to cause "foot drop" to develop years later? I am currently taking Naproxen. Actually my original knee injury happened in 1969 and got repaired in 1980. Knee remained unstable and worn a brace since 1981. I have consulted many orthopedic surgeons, who all state that repair of the ACL is not possible.

My mom's sugar level is high with pain in left shoulder and arm. Please suggest medication.

Hello doctor,

My mom is a diabetic for the past 10 years. She takes Glimidib MV2 SR and insulin Insuman Comb 25. Yesterday, she did sugar levels before breakfast which is 294, and post it is 334. She has been having pain in the left shoulder and arm, for the last three years. We have been in consultation with an orthopedic doctor. Recently, her pain increased and as suggested by the doctor, we did her MRI with cervical screening but he is traveling this week and not available. I am attaching the MRI report and prescriptions from March. We consulted him on 20th June and would like to have your advice on the MRI report and medicines too. She suddenly gets unbearable pain and so we had to immediately consult a general physician locally. He advised already that my mom's diabetes is high and too much of pain killer would harm her, hence he suggested having Dolo 650 in addition to the prescribed medicines. Kindly help if medicines need to be reviewed or if she has to undergo some treatment. Below are the medicines she takes for diabetes: Insulin 15 units before breakfast and 15 units before dinner, and Glimidib MV2, one tablet before breakfast and one tablet before dinner.

Why am I having severe pain in the posterior part of my knee joint while standing?

Hi doctor,

I am seven months pregnant and I have type 4 chondromalacia patella and ACL grade 1 sprain. My MRI report shows small focal articular cartilage erosions in the medial femoral condyle of the knee and mild left knee joint effusion. I am doing strengthening exercises but I have a lot of pain in the posterior part of my knee joint while standing. The doctor suggested me not to take any painkillers till delivery. What to do in this situation? Do I have to go for surgery? I am very worried as I am unable to sleep also. Is it a major issue and does it relate to arthritis?

What causes chondromalacia of knee?

Hello doctor,

I feel pain in my knees only when I climb downstairs. I feel pain below around knee cap. I am 48 years old and was quite active in running and sprints. My MRI shows nothing and doctors are stating chondro patella. I am on rest but no big difference in four months. All medical traits like vitamin D are great. Recently I started taking Glucosamine. I am healthy and quite fit.
