What causes discomfort and tightness in the upper abdomen?

Hello doctor,

My 66-year-old mother has a discomfort in the upper abdomen since five days. She is experiencing gas trouble and tightness in the upper abdomen. Her stools are a little constipated but, she is passing every day. Now, she has a fever between 99 to 100 degree from five days in the evening. She feels uncomfortable, especially after eating. Please advise. She is diabetic and hypertensive. Her doctor advised she take Medomol 500 and Rabez DSR both twice a day for five days. She also feels very weak. The doctor did a blood test, and a urine test and her WBC was quite high. Now, he has started her on Oflox OZ twice a day for five days along with Rabez DSR and Zantac. Please advise if the high WBCs are because of a stomach infection and if the medicines will help. I hope there is no cause of worry. Her current medications are Glycomet-GP 3/850, Voglibose 0.3, Telmisat AM 5 mg, Alzolam 0.5, Nexito 10 mg and Fibator 5 mg.

What to do next if one is tested positive for dengue?

Hello doctor,

A relative of mine is admitted to a local hospital and tested positive for dengue. His platelet count was checked thrice. The first time they checked it was yesterday afternoon, and the count was 83,000. The second time they tested him yesterday evening and the count was 81,000. The third test was done today morning and the result was 79,000. The clinical assistants said they are not able to ensure an increase in the platelet count. We are too tensed. Meanwhile, the WBC has steadily increased from 3600 to 5400. Please tell me what we can expect? Is it serious? The patient is active, walking, talking, and eating fine. He only has joint pains and rashes.

Is it possible to have low erythropoietin count and high RBC count together?

Hello doctor,

I am 27 years old male, 6 feet, and 180 lbs. I started a new job and the life insurance company wanted me to take a blood test. The results are attached. My blood test shows a low erythropoietin of 4.4 U/L (normal range 4.3 to 29) and high red blood cell count of 5.6x10^12/L (normal range 3.7-6). The insurance company now wants me to see a hematologist for polycythemia. What are the odds that my result is actually related to that? I was also just diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea.
