What can be done to manage obesity and lower back pain?

Hello doctor,

I am 25 years old. I have a 7-year-old and a 2-year-old kid. After my son's birth, I have gained quite a bit of weight just a little over the obese range. I say this because I do not know if it has anything to do with my problem.

I am writing because I am having trouble finding online information about my lower back pain (behind the backbone). It does not hurt all the time. Mainly there is constant pain while walking, laying flat, or when leaning forward without support. Also, there is a real sharp pinch when my kids or spouse push on it either side. I am not sure if this matters, but once in a while when I stand from the couch there is a pinching pain in my lower front abdomen that goes away after a minute or two. Is there any idea you may have as to what is going on? I have been dealing with my back for a year now and my spouse is starting to tell me to get it checked out. I used to take only Ibubrufen when I get headaches.

I am sneezing continuously only in my hometown. Can it be due to climate?

Hi doctor,

I am living in a tropical coastal area. I used to travel always. When I am outside my place or abroad I do not have any problem. But, when I enter my place and as soon as I enter my house, I will start sneezing and then after sometime my nose will start dripping. This happens only in my place. When I go outside even for six months I do not get fever or cold. But, in my place every day morning I will start sneezing. I do not know what is happening. Is this because of the climate or dust allergy? What all tests should I do? Which doctor do I need to consult?

Can honey be consumed instead of sugar in a diabetic patient?

Hello doctor,

I would like your professional medical opinion on the medication named Lyrica, but first, let me give you some background about my father's health condition. He is a 73 years old man who has been diagnosed with diabetes type 2 10 years ago. He also suffers from hypertension, gout, neuropathy, slight renal failure and had a heart attack eight years ago and underwent a minor procedure of having two stents in the heart. He is on various medications for his illnesses but my question is this, can my dad drink tea with honey instead of sugar? Is honey as damaging as sugar or can he consume it? Also, can he drink alcohol-free beer? Is beer with alcohol not permitted when having a slight renal failure and diabetes type 2?

Could RLQ pain be chronic appendicitis?

Hi doctor,

I am a 15 year old female and have been having RLQ pain for nearly five months. I am physically fit. I do exercise at least six days a week and eat quite healthy. I have a sharp stabbing pain at McBurney's point. I also feel immense pressure at my RLQ like someone is sitting on my stomach constantly. I had an ultrasound to find appendicitis. But, they found enlarged lymph nodes and said they would become normal soon. I did not have cold or anything in the past two to three months before this happened. It stopped hurting for about three days and then started hurting again, this time without the pressure. Within the last two weeks it has become worse than ever, it hurts. I am always feeling nauseous, even when it is not hurting. It hurts daily and sometimes causes me to double over for 10-15 seconds. It has nothing to do with monthly cycle at all and does not seem to react with food. This Monday morning I had to stop my fitness training as it was so bad and could not complete the session, which is very unlike to me as I enjoy fitness. I have had two ultrasounds and could not find appendicitis or anything else wrong. Also, I have had two blood tests done for appendicitis and that showed slightly higher amounts of white blood cells, but that is not enough for doctors to diagnose as appendicitis. I went to ER at 3 AM; they did more blood tests and sent me home about three months ago. Could this be chronic appendicitis? I do not know what to do and the doctors seem to think that I am making it up. Please help. Thanks.
