Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had severe left-sided abdominal pain and sharp chest pain on the left side. I had gone for an FSH test, and FSH is 0.080. I get periods every 10 days. I am really worried. What to do?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Based on what you have shared, there are a few concerning points that need attention. Severe left-sided abdominal pain combined with sharp left-sided chest pain is not normal and should be evaluated urgently, as it could indicate issues ranging from ovarian problems, such as cysts or torsion, to cardiac, lung, or gastrointestinal problems. Chest pain in particular should never be ignored.

Your menstrual history periods every 10 days is highly irregular. A very low follicle-stimulating hormone level of 0.080 mIU per milliliter is abnormally low. Follicle-stimulating hormone is important for regulating the menstrual cycle, and a low level can indicate hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, which can be caused by extreme low body weight, malnutrition, stress, or pituitary issues.

Your weight is very low at 87.08 pounds, which can contribute to these hormonal changes. Given your low weight, irregular periods, and severe pain, it is very important to seek medical attention immediately. A doctor may recommend:

  • A full pelvic and abdominal examination.

  • Ultrasound of the abdomen and ovaries.

  • Blood tests for hormonal evaluation.

  • Evaluation for any chest or abdominal emergencies.

This is urgent, especially because severe pain in the abdomen or chest can indicate conditions that may need immediate treatment. Do not wait. Please go to an emergency department or see a gynecologist right away.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.

Thank you.
