Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 20 years old, and my weight is around 99 pounds. I have been suffering from stomach issues for the past nine years. I have consulted with many doctors and tried their medicines, but they do not seem to have any effect on me. When I eat foods like potatoes or egg yolk, I experience stomach pain that radiates to my kidney sides, front chest, and back. I also have swelling right on the sternum. Colofac has been previously prescribed for the same condition.

Kindly help.

Hi,

I appreciate that you have chosen icliniq.com for your medical needs.

I am here to give you the best care possible.

I am sorry to hear about your ongoing stomach issues and the lack of improvement even after consulting with multiple doctors. It sounds like a challenging situation, based on your symptoms, have you find it helpful to keep a food diary, documenting the foods you eat and any corresponding symptoms you experience? Additionally, you might want to try avoiding foods that consistently trigger your symptoms, such as potatoes and egg yolks, and focus on a balanced diet that includes easily digestible foods. For occasional or mild cases of stomach issues, you can try some lifestyle changes and over-the-counter medications that may provide relief. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Dietary adjustments: Eat smaller, frequent meals rather than large ones. Chew your food slowly and thoroughly. Avoid spicy, fatty, or greasy foods that can trigger indigestion. Limit your intake of caffeine, alcohol, and carbonated drinks.
  2. Herbal remedies: Drink ginger tea or chew on a small piece of ginger to help soothe the stomach. Sip on peppermint tea or take enteric-coated peppermint capsules to relieve symptoms.
  3. Over-the-counter antacids: Antacids such as Tums (calcium carbonate), Rolaids (a combination of calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide), or Maalox (a combination of magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide) can help neutralize stomach acid and alleviate indigestion symptoms.
  4. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs): PPIs like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole can reduce the production of stomach acid and provide long-lasting relief.

It is important to note that self-treatment is not a substitute for medical advice. If your symptoms persist, worsen, or occur frequently, it is recommended to see a gastroenterologist for a proper diagnosis and personalized treatment plan.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further.

Thank you.
