Can I eat avocado if I am taking blood thinners?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am taking Sintrom, but I was wondering if I can eat avocado.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

  • The medicine Sintrom (Acenocoumarol) is an anticoagulant (used for reducing the blood from clotting easily). While taking this drug, you should not make major changes to the diet as this can increase or decrease the effects of this drug. In both the cases, it is not beneficial for the body.
  • Green leafy vegetables and avocado, for example, you can take, but in little quantities. The simple rule is an excess of everything is bad. Be moderate and yes, you can take avocado.

Hope it helps. Regards.
