Can acidity and gas cause severe stomach pain?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My symptoms include an extremely bloated stomach, which often leads people to think that I am pregnant. I have also been experiencing sharp pain in the upper left side of my stomach that comes and goes unlike the permanent swelling, and occasional nausea. The corners of my mouth are cracked, and my tongue feels hard and sore. Currently, I am taking the following psychiatric medications: Elvanse, Depakine, Velaxafina, Mirtazapina, Clozapina, and Lyrica. I was prescribed Buscopan for stomach pain, but after taking it, I developed a rash on my face. After researching online, I decided to stop taking it. I have undergone X-rays, blood tests, allergy tests, an endoscopy, a colonoscopy, and an MRI, but nothing abnormal was found. I do not consume alcohol, gluten, or dairy. I am now 45 years old and have not menstruated in years. The pain is mainly concentrated on the upper left side just below the ribs, but during the doctor's examination, the entire left side was extremely tender. The pain and nausea tend to worsen after eating. What could this be? Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Actually, this pain can be attributed to acidity and gas, which is quite common. In your case, it may be more prone due to the medications you are taking, as they themselves can cause acidity. Therefore, I would suggest you take the tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg once before breakfast for five days. It is important to consult a specialist doctor, discuss your situation with them, and take the medication with their consent. Additionally, remember to drink plenty of water. Avoid consuming heavy meals, smoked meat, and alcohol. It is also advisable to avoid spicy and fast food. Please let me know if you are passing stools regularly without any difficulties.
Thank you.
