Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 23 years old and have been suffering from acne for 13 years. My face is covered with acne, especially on the cheeks (right cheek specifically). This acne leaves a brown spot mostly with a visibly enlarged pore. I have been using Benzoyl peroxide face wash and Clindac A ointment and found no appreciable results.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I can understand your concern.

According to the description and photograph (attachments have been removed to protect the patient's identity) provided by you, It seems that you have ice pick scars and rolling types acne scars.

Following are the various techniques to treat acne scars:

  • Subcision and derma roller - A technique of uplifting the scars by cutting the underlying fibrous band with the help of hypodermic needles. then use a derma roller to activate underlying collagen.

  • Co2 pixel laser.

  • Medical treatment: Opexa gel (Dimeticone & Ascorbyl Testraisopalmitate) or Contractubex gel (Heparin, Allantoin) can be applied twice daily by following the proper method of application:

    • Clean the affected area with water and dry

    • Gently apply a thin layer of Opexa (Dimethicone) Gel.

    • Let the gel dry for at least four to five minutes

    • Use continuously for a minimum duration of eight weeks

  • For active acne start using 1% Clindamycin gel during the morning over pimples and 0.1% Adapalene gel at night over whole face for around two to three months. With Adapalene you may develop a little bit of a burning sensation, and hence it should be used in small quantities.

  • Follow certain dietary restrictions like avoiding oily, spicy food, junk food, milk products, and nonvegetarian foods.

  • Consume adequate water that hydrates your skin.

  • Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take the medication with a prescription.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
