Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am dealing with a significant issue of pus-filled acne and persistent acne scars exacerbated by my oily skin. I have attempted to address it using Picspot, Vitamin C chewable tablets, and Azithromycin plus 500, which have improved but have not entirely resolved the issue. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Acne can have various causes, such as hormonal fluctuations, genetic predisposition, diet, environmental factors, skincare product use, underlying medical conditions, medications, and stress. Considering conditions like PCOD (polycystic ovary syndrome) or thyroid issues are essential, I suggest consulting a gynecologist and a physician for proper evaluation.

Since you are relatively young, acne due to hormonal fluctuations can persist into your early 30s until your hormones stabilize and your skin becomes less oily.

I suggest you the following:

  1. Aha glow S foaming face wash: It consists of aloe extract at 5 percent, Salicylic acid at 2 percent, and Glycolic acid at 1 percent. Use this product in the morning and at night. Apply a sufficient amount to a damp face, gently massage in circular motions for one minute, and then rinse it off.

  2. Peroclin 2.5 percent gel: Apply this gel consisting of 2.5 percent w/w Benzoyl peroxide and 1 percent w/w Clindamycin on pimples in the morning after using the face wash.

  3. Cleargel AP: The composition of this gel is 0.1 percent w/w Adapalene and 1 percent w/w Clindamycin. Use this gel at night. Apply it on pimples and affected areas after washing your face before bedtime. Leave it on overnight and wash it off in the morning.

  4. Zitcare capsule: Take one Zitcare (Beta Carotene 30 mg, Chromium 1.04 mg, Copper sulfate 1 mg, Manganese 2 mg, Selenium 200 mcg, and Zinc 20 mg) capsule daily after dinner for two months. These capsules are multivitamins designed to help with acne.

  5. Capsule Microdox LBX: The composition consists of Doxycycline 100 mg and Lactobacillus acidophilus 5 billion spores. Take one capsule after breakfast and another after dinner for seven days.

  6. Tablet Pantop 40 (Pantoprazole 40 mg): Consume one tablet 30 minutes before breakfast and one 30 minutes before dinner for seven days to prevent acidity caused by the antibiotics.

  7. Dietary advice: Avoid oily and fried food, sweets, red meat, milk, and dairy products. Consume more fruits, vegetables, and fiber. Aim to drink at least 12 glasses of water a day.

  8. Consult a gynecologist to rule out PCOD ((polycystic ovary syndrome).

  9. Avoid using any skincare products during this treatment.

  10. Zitmoist gel: The composition contains 0.3 percent w/w Allantoin and 1 percent w/w Sodium hyaluronate. Use this gel-based moisturizer if you experience dryness during acne treatment.

  11. Consider chemical peels at a skin clinic every two to three weeks to help reduce oil secretion and manage acne.

Consult your doctor and take the medicines. I hope this helps.
