Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have suffered from pimples with white discharge for ten years. Now I have large pores on my face. I feel shy to see my face in the mirror. Is there any cream for the large pores on the face? The pores are increasing in size. I am very shy about meeting anyone. What is the treatment for large pores? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. As per the history, it may be acne of grade 2. They develop due to sudden hormonal fluctuations in the body, especially among teenagers and adolescents. Acne among adults is also common. Other factors include an imbalanced diet, climatic conditions, due to genetic factors, and sometimes due to usage of skin care products. I suggest the following. Cipla Saslic DS face wash (Salicylic acid 2 % glycolic acid face wash). To be applied in the morning and night. Apply, gently massage your face, especially around the affected area, in a circular motion and wash off within one minute. Peroclin gel (Clindamycin benzoyl peroxide ) 2.5 % gel to be applied after using the face wash on a clean, dry face in the morning and night. It should be applied as a spot treatment on the pimples only. Take Tablet Limcee (ascorbic acid) 500 mg chewable tablet. Twice daily to be taken after dinner and after breakfast for one month. Avoid milk, and avoid consuming hot water while using the tablet. Avoid oily food, milk, dairy products, red meat, and sweets. Consume more fruits and vegetables and consume at least 14 glasses of water daily (in a 250 ml standard glass size). Take Capsule Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily after food for seven days. This should not be taken if you have any previous history of allergies to antibiotics of a similar class. Take Tablet Pantop 40 mg (Pantoprazole) twice daily before food for seven days to prevent acidity due to the antibiotic. Acne and large pores may be reduced with the above medications. Large pores may also be treated with glycolic acid chemical peels, usually done in at least six sessions at a professional clinic by a dermatologist. The procedure may be done for better results. I understand it may be financially challenging, and you may even stick to the medications. However, for better results, direct consultation with a dermatologist may help undergo the procedure if there is a need for the same. Acne can be on and off. Each time they appear, you may use the above medication (except for the antibiotics, for which consultation is required). For most individuals, it will stabilize and may stop appearing once you grow older.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
