What is the treatment for lip hyperpigmentation and dark circles in a 19-year-old female?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 19-year-old female. I have hyperpigmentation on my lips and dark circles. I also have pimple breakouts and acne scars. Please suggest me some cream for these. My skin is sensitive to serums. I have tried applying vitamin C serum but it did not suit me and I had pimples after applying it. Sunscreen also does not suit my skin as it feels heavy and oily on my skin. It would be great if I get to know what facewash and cream will suit my skin. And also a remedy for hyperpigmentation on and around my lips and dark circles.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Your clinical history suggests oily and acne-prone skin type, with dark circles and dark lips. I would suggest the following.

  1. Kindly do not use vitamin C serum if you have active acne. Vitamin C serum will cause further acne eruption.

  2. Use a gel-based or aqua gel-based sunscreen that is light on the skin and does not clog pores.

  3. Use glycolic or salicylic acid-containing facewash.

  4. Use a lip balm with SPF (sun protection factor).

  5. Try to use sunshades or goggles whenever you go out and avoid screen time as much as possible.

For detailed prescriptions, please take consultation with your specialist doctor.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.
