Can I take Vitamin C supplements for anemia?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My age is 19 years old, and my height is 5.2 feet.

  1. Can I take Vitamin C because I am an anemia patient?
  2. What is the name of the Vitamin C supplement?

Kindly assist.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and can understand your concern.

If you are an anemic patient, then according to the cause, the treatment is given. For example, if iron deficiency anemia is present, then the iron tablet can be prescribed.

If vitamin B12 deficiency is present, then a B12 injection is needed. No need for Vitamin C intake in anemia cases. The Orofer iron tablet contains Ferrous Ascorbate, which has a good absorptive capacity. So, I do not think extra Vitamin C syrup is needed.

You can attach your reports to guide you further.

Take care.
