Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a pretty intense viral infection. The symptoms started six days ago, and I have not completely lost my voice, but I am a singer who has been on near-total vocal rest for about three days. How long does it take for me to recover from laryngitis? I tested negative for strep test- rapid and PCR, and covid test.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As a rule, we always recommend 14 days of absolute voice rest to ensure complete healing of your vocal cords. At the same time, refrain from consuming cold beverages and alcohol and make sure that you do not eat anything oily or spicy. Avoid gargles as they do not allow healing to occur. I suggest taking a good multivitamin containing Coenzyme Q10 for faster and better recovery. However, 14 days of absolute voice rest is mandatory. I am pretty sure that your voice should be back to normal in two weeks if proper care has been taken. I hope this answers your query. Do let us know if there is anything you would want to know. We will try to revert to you as soon as possible. Warm regards.
