Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and bilateral pleural effusion in the lungs with consolidation in the left lung. All KFT (kidney function tests) and LFT (liver function tests) are normal. I have been on intravenous fluids for two days without eating. Now the doctor prescribed Pancreatin on an empty stomach. I am concerned it may cause more inflammation. Is this the right approach, or should I consider switching doctors? The prescribed Pancreatin is 350 mg on an empty stomach. Is pleural effusion dangerous? The pain has subsided, but I had ulcers in the stomach before, confirmed by an endoscopy. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am very sorry about your medical condition. Do not worry; I am here to take care of you. Regarding your questions about stomach symptoms after the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis, my answer is no, it will not cause any harm to your stomach flora. The reason why he gave you Pancreatin 350mg before a meal is because it aids in the metabolism of the food you have eaten, which may lead to hypoglycemia and other symptoms. For the pleural effusion and lung consolidation, I am considering malignancy. Please do an AFP test and reply to me with the result. If your symptoms persist, schedule another appointment for follow-up via chat, phone, or video consultation.

Thanks for using iCliniq, and have a nice day.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
