Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was having a problem with my appetite, and my doctor advised me to get an SGPT test and urine test done; and found that SGPT levels were not normal and albumin was present in the urine, but when the same test was repeated, the same month, albumin was absent and the SGPT levels were normal. But, when the same test were repeated the same month albumin was lacking, and the SGPT levels were normal. So due to the difference in results from the tests done on subsequent days, I am confused about whether I need to repeat the tests or I can go with the second result. Kindly help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed your results. The first test result could be due to a temporary cause, and you should repeat the test after two weeks to see the current status.

Kindly revert if you have more queries.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you for your reply doctor,

I had repeated my urine test second time after 20 days and no albumin was found. What can be interpreted from the result? Kindly guide me.

Answered by Dr. Rajesh Gulati

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There was some problem when the first test was done, and it had resolved now. And it is difficult to find the cause of that problem. But, since the results are fine and there are no symptoms, there is nothing to worry about. So, there is no need to repeat the tests.

Patient's Query

Thank you for your reply doctor,

There were no symptoms earlier and at present too. But, I think I was not hydrated enough, so I feel I should drink enough water before my next test. Also, I learned from the internet sources that I should do three tests, of which, if two turns positive, then there are chances of kidney problems. So, should I repeat the test? Kindly help.

Answered by Dr. Rajesh Gulati

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Two test results are sufficient, and no need to repeat the test. However, you should atleast drink around two and a half liters of water every day. According to the results, there are no kidney problems at present.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

The information provided in the internet sources has made me panic, and I had to clarify. So, dehydration could be the reason for the presence of albumin in the report, and Is drinking enough water can resolve this? What should I do? Kindly suggest.

Answered by Dr. Rajesh Gulati

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

When there is insufficient intake of water, such problems can arise, especially in the summer. So, drink at least two to three liters of water daily. If there are no symptoms, the test should not be repeated.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I just repeated the test once, so for confirming the results, should I repeat the test one more time? Kindly suggest.

Answered by Dr. Rajesh Gulati

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As there are no symptoms or problems present, there is no need to repeat the test. Since a urine test is a simple and inexpensive test, you can repeat it for your peace of mind. But it is optional.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you for the reply doctor,

I have already repeated the urine test once, so can it be considered confirmed result?

Answered by Dr. Rajesh Gulati

You can repeat the test to have double confirmation.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

If there is presence of albumin in a minute amount in the urine in the first test, and the second test turns out to be normal. Is there a need to repeat the test or can confirm the result with the second test result? Kindly suggest.

Answered by Dr. Rajesh Gulati

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

According to medical books, there are various other reasons for albumin in urine, like reduced water intake, fever, exercises, etc. Also, other serious causes require treatment. Generally, if you do not have any symptoms, there is no need to repeat the test. But it can vary from doctor to doctor. Some doctors might suggest two to three negative test results, and some patients might also need two or three negative results. Therefore, I would suggest that if you have no symptoms, one negative result is sufficient.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
