Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had protected sex during a few days before my period, which got delayed for eight days. I had period cramps for the first day that subsided later on. I also got pregnancy tests done, and they were negative. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

If you have had protected intercourse during the days you could potentially become pregnant, and you are experiencing symptoms such as period cramps and a missed period, you may be pregnant. However, it is also possible that you are experiencing a delayed period due to other factors, such as stress, hormonal imbalances, or an underlying medical condition.

If you have already taken two pregnancy tests and they were both negative, it is possible that the test was taken too early or that there's a chance of a false negative result. Pregnancy tests are most accurate when taken after a missed period, as this is when the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is at a high enough level to be detected by the test.

If you are still concerned about your symptoms and want to confirm whether or not you are pregnant, I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions.

  1. Get a blood test done to determine the level of hCG in your body.
  2. Follow a healthy diet, and get plenty of rest.
  3. Avoid alcohol and tobacco products.
  4. Kindly consult a specialist as they can guide you based on your circumstances.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
