I have developed itchy anus. Can this be because of worms?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am just recovering from loose motion (lasted for 3 to 4 days). I am better now. I have developed itchy anus. Not exactly the anus however in the surroundings. Can this be of worms? Please advice any medicine and any cream if needed. Please suggest brand name and composition as well. No other discomfort as of now. The stool is improving. Please mention dosage of medicine and how to apply cream. I have a question as well, can an adult (myself, 34 years old) have worms or pinworms?

Currently, I am taking Brakke twice daily one after breakfast and one after dinner for five days (three more left), Cyraflora once daily after dinner for 10 days (seven more left), Pantocid DSR one in morning in empty stomach (for seven days, two more left), blood pressure medicine (Telday 40 mg) lifelong.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Yes, anyone can get worms in stomach. I would recommend in such cases to apply Smuth cream (Milk of Magnesia and Liquid Paraffin) locally in the anal area twice daily for three days. Take tablet Mebex 100 mg twice a day for three days. Let me know if your itching persists after three days.

For more information consult an internal medicine physician online.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Mebex 100 is out of stock. Please suggest alternate medicine.
