Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 19-years-old, male, recently I discovered that my crown hair is slightly thinning, however, I think it is a cowlick because the middle part of the crown where the swirl is thick but away from the swirl it is thinner. You can actually see my scalp lines or hairlines. You can see my top back hairline and the side of the crown hairline.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can see thinning of hair in the picture you have attached, but I cannot see the hair line (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It could be telogen effluvium (stress induced) or early androgenetic alopecia or visibility of scalp could be because of your short hair.
Androgenetic alopecia or male pattern baldness starts with receding hair line on the temporal and frontal area of scalp then there will be thinning in the crown of scalp. I will have to see pictures taken from the front to visualize hair line receding to confirm androgenetic alopecia.
Hair needs protein for growth, diet rich in protein say 40 to 60 g of protein per day is very helpful. It depends on the body weight. Avoid hot water, use lukewarm water to wash scalp.
Revert with answers.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the response.
I do not see any hair falling out in the shower. I will upload a picture of front of my head.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
In these pictures I do not see classic features of androgenetic alopecia. If there is no history of illness, stress in the recent past, then it could be early androgenetic alopecia. It is treated with topical Minoxidil solution. Once Minoxidil solution is started it has to be used infinitely. Hence, only in established cases we suggest Minoxidil.
For you, I would suggest, protein rich diet, hair and nail Vitamin every day.
Thank you.
