Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 58 years old. I am anemic. Last time, I went to the hospital and had six units of blood. After getting some blood, I felt fine. But now, I am weak again. What can I do for a quick fix for this problem? They found no internal bleeding. I cannot do this anymore, and I have no energy. I have been this way almost all my life, and it is just getting worse. They told me I needed iron and sent me home. Please help me improve myself and prove to my family that I am not lazy but have no energy. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is a common problem. Do not worry. You did not mention whether you are taking iron supplements. If not, please start taking them so that you can improve your hemoglobin. Also, do regular Hb (haemoglobin ) checkups after taking the supplement to rule out any problem in iron absorption. Initially, an iron injection may improve anemic status. Later you can switch to oral iron supplements. Also, take food rich in iron, such as flax seeds, jaggery, beetroot, and carrot. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Treatment plan

For the treatment plan, I suggest Injectable iron followed by oral iron supplements.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
