Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 31 years old. During my second echocardiogram with a bubble test, it was found that I have an interatrial septal aneurysm, but there are no holes in my heart. I was prescribed blood thinners, and I am currently taking Clopidogrel. What could be the cause of this, and is there a cure? What kind of lifestyle should I be maintaining? I am feeling scared.
Please advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Do not worry about it. It is a congenital condition, and there is no specific cause for it. It is seen in one to two percent of healthy individuals. While there is a slightly increased risk of clot formation due to the bulging of the aneurysm, which can lead to a stroke, it does not cause problems in most people. There is no specific lifestyle required for it. In general, try to maintain a healthy lifestyle, such as avoiding obesity. Usually, no treatment is necessary for it. You may continue taking blood thinners if your doctor advises it.
I hope this helps.
