How to manage stress and anxiety?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Recently, I have been experiencing chest pain with a burning sensation around the heart area. I have had adrenal fatigue or chronic fatigue for one and a half years. Other symptoms associated with my fatigue include neck and head tremors, an excited nervous system, elevated heart rate, pounding heart, exhaustion, low stress tolerance, an increase in headaches, occasional arm aches, and burning sensations in my arms.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your symptoms suggest anxiety or stress. I recommend you undergo an upper GI endoscopy to rule out GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), which may cause chest pain and a burning sensation around the heart. The rest of your symptoms may be attributed to anxiety. I suggest you consult your GP. You might consider practicing the following activities to reduce stress or anxiety:

  1. Walk for 30 minutes daily.
  2. Do breathing exercises for five minutes twice a day.
  3. Practice yoga for half an hour each day.
  4. Participate in sports activities.
  5. Spend quality time with friends and family.
  6. Listen to music.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
