Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

For two months I was having severe anxiety that I could not even walk properly. There was a lot of loss of balance then I visited a neurologist for consultation. He advised me a bundle of tests and also told brain MRI. All my reports were normal including brain MRI. Then prescribed some anti-anxiety and antidepressant drugs like Flunil 20, Etilamm 25 thrice, and Buspin 5 twice a day. I want to ask how long I have to take these drugs and whether I have to take them throughout my lifetime. Sir, I am a student and 24 years old studying for government jobs and was a bit depressed from my performance in the past. And I have a bit of hypertension 155/80 mmHg. The doctor prescribed me Concor AM 2.5 for it. Due to this pressure, he had taken many tests like KFT, ECG, thyroid test, sugar fasting and postprandial, and many autoimmune disease tests which were all normal. I just wanted to know that how long I need to take these medicines and tell me the side effects of these too.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If every investigation came normal and you have anxiety you should consult a psychiatrist rather than a neurologist. This will help in making the right diagnosis of symptoms. If the anxiety is persistent the dose of Fluoxetine can be increased to 40 mg per day after breakfast. Your blood pressure is in the higher range most likely due to anxiety. The medicines should be continued for at least three months post-remission of symptoms. This will help in remaining anxiety-free for long.

Thank you.
