Is there a permanent asthma treatment for a 6-year-old kid?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My son is six years of age and has been an asthma and chest infection patient. We have continued the treatment with different medicines such as liquid, powder, and tablet forms. Please help me and suggest an idea for permanent treatment. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Please upload your son's previous blood reports if you have done so.

If not, get a complete blood count done along with serum IgE (immunoglobulin E) values. We must find out what he is allergic to. If the IgE values are raised, you must do a skin prick test. For allergy and asthma, the first and foremost treatment is allergen avoidance. This, combined with pharmacotherapy, yields good results in most individuals. In a few, we may have to progress to immunotherapy. Please upload relevant investigation reports.

I hope this helps.

Please revert so I can assist you further.

Thank you.
