Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My baby boy is 3 years old and is not walking or talking only babbling. He was born healthy but after a week got infected by jaundice, and hospitalized after keeping their the doctors told us he has a urine infection too. I do not know what medications were prescribed to him. Almost loosed him but after that, he started recovering. The problem is that he do not talk or understand but for a few days, he is trying to stand which before he did not attempt. So regarding this, we even took for MRI report which was all normal. But my baby is not approaching his milestone. Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern. Your child probably seems to have suffered some damage when there was jaundice mostly. I will be able to confirm it if you can tell me the level of jaundice there was and what was done about it. Also, this is a case of delayed milestones. As of now you can consult a pediatric neurologist and take an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) brain report to him to confirm the level of damage or if there is any other issue. Unfortunately, if there is some issue in the brain leading to severely delayed milestones there is nothing much except physiotherapy that can be done. Even physiotherapy will mildly improve the outcome. A detailed physical examination and a complete look into the past history and reports will be required before coming to a conclusion. I hope I have cleared all your doubts.
Thank you.
