Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My 7-month-old baby has loose motions once every ten days. Why is he like that? Does he have any problems?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
It is normal for children below six months to pass stools ten to twenty times a day or once in two to three days. Both are fine and are not labeled as constipation or diarrhea. No treatment is required in such cases.
Treatment is only required when there is documented fever, lethargy, or refusal to feed. As of now, please give the child Enterogermina (probiotic) twice a day for four days along with four to five tablespoons of ORS solution (oral rehydration salts). Watch for dehydration, lethargy, and refusal to feed.
I hope that you get your answer.
Please let me know if you need any help.
Thank you.
