Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had discomfort in my lower back and took medications for two months. Now I have pain there occasionally I also have numbness in my right side after standing or walking for two to three minutes. Could you kindly advise me on what I should do? Is surgery necessary, or will it resolve on its own?

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

Mostly I do sitting work and do not do a lot of activity. I have included my MRI data. Could you kindly tell me your opinion on this? Is surgery necessary, or will it resolve on its own? I presented this to a spine specialist and he informed me that if it did not get fixed in a year, I would have to undergo surgery. I have started going to the gym but not doing weight training, just cardio as the doctor suggested. But I want your opinion also. I am attaching the current medications as well.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen your attachments (attachments removed to protect the patient’s identity).

In MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) reports, it is mentioned mild compression at multiple levels but we usually get to know more about the condition after seeing the films. Reports do not give the required information. So I request you to send me the films. The decision to operate or not depends on the symptoms of the patient and not on MRI. An MRI tells you where to operate but cannot tell you when. You have to decide, if your symptoms are bothering you and are not relieved with conservative management, then there are other options. So please tell me how these medications have helped with your problem.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
